Although Proust was not actually of aristocratic birth, he depicted the lifestyle of the aristocracy in minute detail, and although Stendhal did not know the elite social world very well, he wrote as if he did. My Spring Snow is similar, but seeing as the dōjō aristocrat1 Bōjō Toshitami2 read and vouched for it, it seems that the aristocratic lifestyle that I depict is at least not a fake like Dazai Osamu’s The Setting Sun.3
